Biography
Alicia Knecht, DNP, FNP-C is a Family Nurse Practitioner who began providing Primary Care and Women’s Health services at Plains Family Medicine in November 2025.
She started her career off as an RN and worked several years as a bedside nurse at a VA hospital and on a respiratory-cardiac unit. Knecht later went on to get her doctorate degree to become a Nurse Practitioner. She spent five years working in Family Practice before transitioning to a position where she processed Veteran disability claims. Prior to joining Plains Family Medicine, Knecht worked remotely for two years while traveling and raising and homeschooling her three young daughters.
Getting back into family practice and moving back West were both things she has wanted to do for quite some time. Her family briefly lived in Thompson Falls in 2023 so the area is somewhere she knew would be a good fit.
Knecht and her family like to travel and spend time outdoors. When they lived near Billings, they had several farm animals and now are just down to the family dogs and beloved pet chickens (don’t worry, they stay outside!). As a family, the Knechts are looking forward to making new connections with a church family back here in Montana.
Knecht is committed to being the best Mom she can be and raising her girls to love God and country and to be healthy. Her entire family likes to get out and explore and hike and see native wildlife. They look forward to future hiking excursions in Western Montana. Crossfit style workouts and all things coffee are among Knecht’s other interests.
When it comes to primary care, Knecht has a particular interest in helping patients identify areas where they can make healthy changes in their lives to improve their overall health, no matter how small. Rather than jumping to a pharmaceutical prescription, she likes to help patients look deeper into their nutrition, physical activity, stress, sleep and even their spiritual life and see how they can improve each of those areas. Her ultimate goal is to get patients off of medications and feeling their best.
