Biography
CFVH began offering Mental Health Services in early October 2014 with the addition of Kate Whipple-Kilmer, PsyD, Licensed Clinical Psychologist.
Whipple-Kilmer, who earned her doctorate degree from Pacific University in Hillsboro, Oregon, is excited to call Plains her home after many travels around the country in search of a rural town to work and reside. She says she fell in love with Western Montana years ago and has been working to find a place for herself and her husband here ever since." From the first moment I stepped through the doors of CFVH, I could tell that this was more than just a workplace, it was a family," says Whipple-Kilmer. "Everyone at CFVH has so much pride in the hospital and in the work they do here."
Whipple-Kilmer can provide individual therapy for children, adolescents and adults as well as couples and family therapy. "I work from an integrated treatment approach which allows me to better meet the needs of each individual," she explains.
"There can be a stigma around mental health that you should just pull yourself up by your bootstraps and get over it, especially with the incredibly hard-working individuals that live in places like Sanders County," says Whipple-Kilmer. "My goal is to help them see that coming to therapy is very much just learning to help yourself. I provide people with tools to springboard off of to improve their own lives."
