Plan set to be drafted for Hot Springs Clinic
by Sandra Gubel, The Sanders County Ledger
The "bumpy road" to improve the ailing Hot Springs Medical Clinic, just got smoother.
When the project didn’t receive federal stimulus appropriations earlier this year because it wasn’t "shovel ready," Sanders County Community Development Corp. Director Ray Marshall was disappointed. He described the situation, however as "a bumpy road, but not the end of the road. We're marching forward."
With his assistance, the town of Hot Springs and Eastern Sanders County Hospital District (ESCHD) were recently awarded a Montana Department of Commerce grant that will be used for architectural services.
The grant for $20,000 will be matched by ESCHD with the same, giving the project a total of $40,000 in support. This show of interest is desirable when pursuing other funds, noted Marshall.
In an advertisement in this week's Ledger, ESCHD seeks the statements of qualifications from architectural firms interested in helping the district move forward to complete a preliminary architectural plan.
With the plan, the update of Hot Springs Medical Clinic will be "shovel ready."
"We've received good support all the way around on this," said Marshall, hopeful of continued progress.
