Family Practice Physician joins Family Medicine Network team
Thompson Falls Family Medicine will soon welcome board certified Family Practice Physician Edwin Mundall, MD to their team of primary care providers.
Dr. Gregory Hanson, Clark Fork Valley Hospital and Family Medicine Network President/CEO states, "We're excited to have recruited a physician and primary care provider that will live and work in the Thompson Falls community. This is something we've been actively looking to accomplish over the past two years and Dr. Mundall will be a great fit and addition to our team."
Dr. Mundall has spent the last three years running his own practice in Yreka, CA. Two of those three years, he additionally served as an Emergency Department provider at Trinity Hospital in Weaverville, CA. He graduated from the Southern College of Seventh-day Adventists in Collegedale, TN with the intent to teach high school. Shortly therafter, he decided to go back to school to pursue a career in medicine.
"I liked the science of medicine, the thought of working with people one on one, and the ability to make a difference in people's lives," states Mundall whose father and both grandfathers were Physicians.
In 2003, he received his medical degree from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in Loma Linda, CA and in 2006 he completed an internship and residency program in Klamath Falls, OR.
"My wife and I chose to come to Thompson Falls due to a number of factors - we really love the location, it is BEAUTIFUL country! I am very impressed with how service-oriented the hospital is, providing services that many larger hospitals do not have. The people we have met in the hospital and area seem genuine, caring and friendly," comments Mundall when asked why Clark Fork Valley Hospital and the Family Medicine Network seemed like a good fit for him. He looks forward to exploring a new area, getting to know the people of Sanders County, and also taking trips to beautiful scenic spots like Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks.
Realizing that lifestyle choices play a huge role in health and wellness, Dr. Mundall is passionate about lifestyle medicine and prevention. He says, "Good choices with diet and exercise not only help to prevent many of the common diseases, but are also the first line of treatment for diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol."
Dr. Mundall will be accompanied in his move by wife, Laurina, and two kids; Caleb who is 2 1/2 and Charissa who is 10 months old. They also have a third baby on the way due in November.
In his spare time, Mundall enjoys running, birding, soccer, piano and outdoor activities like hiking and camping. His professional memberships include the American Academy of Family Physicians.
