This position plans, directs, organizes, controls and coordinates anything to do with the dietary care of the patients/residents, ensuring that the department complies with all federal and state regulations which govern an acute-care hospital and long term care facility. Is responsible for ensuring overall quality and efficiency of cafeteria operation serving employees and visitors as well as food service support of hospital meetings and special events. Is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of cooks and other nutrition services workers; as well as all aspects of planning and food production to ensure an efficient, safe, appealing, and profitable food service. Provides technical guidance over all therapeutic services of the dietary department which includes such services as: interpretation of diet prescriptions; formulation of special diet menus for individual patients; preparation of special diet meals; consultation with patients regarding special diets that will satisfactorily fulfill nutritional needs during and after hospitalization; consultation with physicians, nurses and other paramedical persons in all areas of normal and therapeutic nutrition
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Minimum: One year certificate from college or technical school; Bachelor’s in Nutrition or related field preferred; Dietician licensure preferred .Certification from Board of Dietary Managers required.
